Faster Launch, Lighter Leech Raids and Smoother Frames
Performance
- The game reaches the main menu several seconds sooner: no fixed fake loading delays, sound starts earlier, and settings and Workshop blueprints load while the world streams in
- The startup splash has no Unity logo and uses the loading screen's navy, so launch goes straight from one to the other
- The autosave hitch is shorter
- The Technology and Fleet windows reopen about twice as fast
- Big Leech raids cost a fraction of what they did each tick
- The starfield sky uses about a third less GPU and looks the same
- The fog of war uses about a third less GPU when zoomed out, with no visible change, and buildings feeding a full or stopped belt do less work each tick
- Smoother frames on big bases: less waiting between simulation steps, fewer jobs per tick, and parked or idle buildings skip more work every frame
- Hovering items with a window open no longer rebuilds the whole interface every frame, and the tutorial's red alert frame no longer redraws the HUD
- On CPUs with many cores the game no longer keeps idle threads busy waiting
Improvements
- The Armor Block has real rivets on Medium, High and Ultra quality, and a much lighter model with the same look on Low quality
Fixes
- The minimap shows asteroids again instead of dark holes
- The Station Grid Information window shows counts of 1000 and up in thousands, keeps three-figure counts whole, and fits long names without breaking a word
- If exclusive full screen is refused at launch, the game remembers the full screen mode it got instead
