Description

Final Factory blends factory building, spaceship design, and a rich universe to explore. Build a mega factory and command a massive fleet against the hostile local aliens. Discover new technologies and unlock the secrets of an ancient civilization as you explore an infinite cosmos.

Features

  • Automation across lots of space stations. Items move on connectors, cargo drones and mass drivers.
  • Every station can move. Put a rocket on anything, build battleships that carry their own fleets, send out scouts, or give cargo haulers a route.
  • Dyson Spheres and Dark Star Gates, on a map that keeps generating as you explore.
  • Bullet-hell fleet combat against the local aliens. Your abilities depend on what ships you have. There's a Pacifist mode too.
  • Long tech tree, plus ancient ruins and an Oracle that sells upgrades for Lumin Orbs.
  • Online co-op through Steam. It came out October 1, 2026 as a free update. Each player needs their own copy.

History

I'm Ben Ryding. I played hundreds of hours of Factorio and wanted to make my own automation game, so in August 2018 I started Final Factory as a cross between StarCraft and Factorio. Most of the RTS stuff got cut along the way.

I set up Never Games in 2019. After more than four years of mostly working on it alone, I quit my job as tech lead of SketchUp for Web to make games full time. A few more people joined in 2023.

It's C# in Unity. In early 2020 I rewrote it on Unity DOTS (ECS and Burst) so really big factories would still run fast.
